What can your player expect out of our drop-ins?
Our drop-ins sessions are a 60 minute skate broken up in to four pieces:
The first 10 minutes is a structured warmup where players will work on their skating, stickhandling, and get their legs going for the rest of the practice.
The next 15 minutes will be focused specifically on their stride, edgework, and speed using a simple skating progression. This will be done in a series of drills that allows players to be constantly moving but also working on improving their stride to become a better skater.
For the third block, we will break skaters up into small groups of like skill levels. Each group will spend 5 minutes at each station and focus on a different aspect of their game. This might include stickhandling, shooting, edgework, or small area games.
The final 10 minutes will be focused on small area games. This could be a mini scrimmage, a three v three game or something else fun and creative.
Our goal is to keep your player moving, having fun, and improving their hockey skills and IQ. Even though some of this may sound technical or “advanced” we’re focused on helping young players learn to love the game and improve in a way that makes them want to come back. There’s no yelling, bag skates, or pressure. It’s just about having fun and getting better.
Who Can Participate?
For this summer we are focused on U8 and U6 girls and boys (Mini Mites and Mites). All skaters should have completed at-least one year of Mini Mites or be playing Mites. Full equipment is required to get on the ice.
How many sessions will there be?
In 2024, we expect to have 12-16 drop-ins from May through September. Sign you skater up in advance to reserve your spot. Single sessions are $30 or buy a four- or eight-pack of classes at a discount.
